Project Description
A spectacular addition to the already famous Tate Modern Gallery a converted power station opened in 2000 – The new building is a eleven-storey twisted pyramid like shape with a very unusual geometry and a facade that changes five different angles with a total of almost 1900 different types of facade elements with a futuristic finish look of anodised aluminium and clear glass cladding.
Skyklass was responsible with the installation of the following:
- 1,400sqm horizontal “clear slot” glazing
- 1,600sqm horizontal “brickwork screened” anodised aluminium cladding
- 2,289 façade elements (clear glass cladding, doors, fixed lights, panels)
- approx. 520sqm roof light glazing for the “Switch House”
- 100sqm vertical window strips in the stick system
- 110sqm external louvres
